How can I learn?
I propose you a Discovery Class designed for beginners that you can repeat as many times as you want, and that are held usually on Tuesday (18h00-21h00) or on Saturday (10h00-13h00) in my Atelier, based in Brussels (next to Docks and the canal).
You can also buy the 5 lessons PACK and save some money if you want to come many times !!
The group classes are for a minimum of 4 people and a maximum of 7, but you can also ask me for a private class for a small group if you want (for private groups we can arrange the date you prefer).
You can also buy a GIFT VOUCHER for your friends & family, it will be an original gift to explore clay and be creative!
Class Description:
Just book a Discovery Class, but to know more, this is what you will do...
First Class: hand modeling. This is how everything starts. Start knowing how clay works, how to move your hands around this new material. You will be introduced to ceramic (kind of clays, firings, process...) and you will be able to try different hand building techniques so to create 2 pieces (like a mug, a cup, a bowl, a small box or vase...) that I will fire for you (included in the price).
You can think of a simple project you would like to realize during the class or find the inspiration on the spot, and if you dream big... you can work on it during multiple sessions.
Clay is included up to 2kg/class (after is 1,5€/kg), and firing of the 2 pieces is included when mesuring about 20*20*20 (bigger pieces will be evaluated together).
Second Step: the glazing. After your piece is bisque fired, you can glaze it: it means to add color and a glass formed shell on the clay .
What is a glaze and how we do compose it? You will understand more about this fascinating universe and test different techniques as drawing with underglazes, superpositions of different colors, brush and dip glazes. You will need to come back to discover the final results after the second firing at high temperature... where the magic happens :)
...You can also try the Pottery Wheel Class : If you dream about the feeling of the soft clay flowing in your hands you need to try the pottery wheel. With this technique you will be able to create perfect round shapes. As to reach this you need to be very focused on the right movements to do, I offer this class only for 1 person per class. In this way you will be guided on all your movements and will be able to improve much faster! It is all about exercise and balance of strenght, pression and gentleness...

WHERE IS THE ATELIER ?
The Atelier Ad Hoc is based in Neder-over-Hembeek, at the stop HEEMBEEK (tram 3,7,10 bus 56,47). Direct by bike from the canal, 10 min by car from Brussels city center.
The exact address will be given after the confirmation to the class.
